Whoever Smelt it, Dealt it
Wanna know what else the "Red states" have in common? They're all welfare queens.
...of the 32 states (and the District of Columbia) that are "winners" -- receiving more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes -- 76% are Red States that voted for George Bush in 2000. Indeed, 17 of the 20 (85%) states receiving the most federal spending per dollar of federal taxes paid are Red States. Here are the Top 10 states that feed at the federal trough (with Red States highlighted in bold):Why is it that the people who are most responsible for something (in this case government spending) are so often the first to make a big deal out of it? Anti-"Big Government" ideologue Newt Gingrich's Cobb County, GA recieves more federal money than all but two counties in the country. Those who vote to "protect marriage" by enshrining homophobia in their state constitutions have among the highest divorce rates in the nation while Massachusetts, that liberal cesspool of decaying moral values, actually has the lowest divorce rate in the nation. And then there are members of the "moral values party" like Ed Schrock, who co-sponsors the Federal Marriage Amendment and then gets caught calling gay phone sex lines looking for someone "just to get naked, play, and see what happens."
