Coburn

This isn't a new story or anything, but Tom Coburn, GOP Senate candidate in Oklahoma, just keeps saying crazy things that I can't stop laughing at.

#1. A few weeks back he said "lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they'll only let one girl go to the bathroom. Now think about it. Think about that issue. How is it that that's happened to us?"

#2. Now, this week he said that black people have a genetic predisposition to live shorter lives. When asked why he supported privatization of Social Security, he said, "If you're an African American male in this country, you die before the average... your average life expectancy is less than the retirement age of social security. How, what kind of plan is that that we're gonna take from those because they had a genetic predisposition to have less of a life expectancy. You're gonna steal from them and give it to somebody else."

It looks as if his Democratic opponent, Brad Carlson, may actually beat Coburn. How could a Democrat win a Senate seat in Oklahoma, you ask? When his opponent keeps saying stuff like this.

Oh yeah, this is the same guy who in the past has said he favors the death penalty for doctors who perform abortions and has described his race with Carlson as "the battle between good and evil."
